Replacement Motor question 20 twin to 17 hp

I have a Scotts JD 2048. the motor is shot.
20 hp V-twin B&S vertical engine
question.
will a B&S 17 -Twin vertical engine, model 42A707 fit right?

The mounting pattern is the same, but you will need to compare crankshaft length and diameter to make sure it will fit the pulleys from the engine that you are installing it onto. Now the wiring may be different, the exhaust will be different. Also need to compare output of the charging systems. Can't run a 3/5 amp charging system with a system that requires the use of an electric clutch. If the replacement engine has a 10 or 16 amp charging system it can be used on a mower with the old 3/5 charging system.

the mortor fit perfect.
question.
the old motor has two coils / one for each head, and the replacement motor has one coil with two plugs/ one for each head..
do I just eliminate one wire from the original harness? .
the 2048 has an electronic carb.
the 17 motor has manual carb.
so, eliminate that wire from the original harness?
