Toro mower 20065 - SN 280105976

It surges, kinda weak. Still gets the job done but not ideal. Thinking of swapping this one in. Don't know why I got it as it's not exact but that's what I do lol. Can I? Should I just prop it open somehow or anyone got a tip to make a custom switch? And how does this mower manage cold starts anyway? Not quite that cold yet here in SWFL but apparently it doesn't it some other way. Please explain. I like to know how these things work so I can better work on em. Thanks

Briggs124T02-0161-B1 is suppose to have a primer type carburetor not a choke carburetor.

PN 799868

Cold starts are manage by using the primer to force air into the fuel bowl which in turn forces fuel out the main nozzle into the carburetor throat. Note these primer air bases are known warping and not priming.

Return the new carburetor and get the correct one.

Omg stupid me. I really don't know how these things work. Gotcha. Okay. Should I just break it off somehow or something?

I don't remember if these choke style carbs are ported for a primer or not. Anyway the choke can be just wired wide open.

Maybe someone that more than a handful know if they are ported or not.

But trying to DIY it isn't advisable.

Oh shoot. Good point. I'll have to check that tomorrow. Good thing I didn't put it on yet. It's probably not but judging by your response I might get lucky

If need be I've rigged something before in a similar situation.

Get the correct carburetor for the application. There is no "rigging" the new one to work.
