Removing the fuel filter

Thanks. What I said is that JD calls for filter replacement every season, but I have not been able to get it off on the three years I’ve had it. Your advice is noted.

If your fuel filter is opaque, ie you can not inspect the media inside, pre-emptive replacement is the only way to go.
Annually would seem to be excessive.
You have gone for three years, without replacement. I assume your ride on engine is still functioning normally ie getting the fuel it needs = filter not blocked. Your refueling hygiene and petrol cleanliness is good = nothing to block the filter.
Equipment/vehicle manufactures tend to err on the safe side of servicing requirements. This gives them an out (voids warranty) if you don't do what they specify. Increases their after sales revenue and helps to mainatine their product reputation for reliability.

NOTE: I am not advocating taking no notice of the manufactures servicing schedule advice . Just pointing out that applying a bit of logic to it, may save you time & money.

Does the other end of the line come off?. Cut it off and replace the line unless there is enough slack to cut it off and shorten it a little.

Why reuse, what sounds to be old/stiff hose??

Just asking for the same problem or worse "down the track". This is is in the category of "pound foolish / penny wise)

Yeah why reuse it? Probably the OG fuel line anyway.
