R110 won't free wheel

I picked up a R110 the other day. It lloks like new, but there is an issue.

Unlike my old Deere there seems to be no way to release the transmission so I can just roll it around. Basically the rear wheels will only move a couple inches in either direction/ It's like it stuck in gear, and I can't seem to find anyway to fix it. Any manuals I've seen don't mention anything about this, or show some way to correct it.

Make sure the brakes are not stuck.. Should be a lever located on the right side of the transmission in front of the axle. Gets rusty and sticks when the parking brake is engaged for starting.

To expand...On MTD single speed transaxles the two indicated pins tend to rust and also the 5/16 holes in the caliper tend to corrode causing the pins to stick.

To be sure we need the actual number from the serial number tag.

But I found was the R110 is a MTD built mower with the single speed transaxle. On that transaxle the brake caliper is on the right sight site in from of the RH axle housing. Unless they reverse mounted the transaxle.
 
This is not a single speed. It's a manual 6 speed.

CMXGRAM1130035​

This has 6 speed selection that are selected by an adjustable traction pulley.

Look at item 5 in the bottom left corner of the parts diagram. That is the brake assembly that is likely stuck and holding the brakes partially on.

So, a little tap on that actuator arm could free it up?

Or do I spray some penetrating fluid or WD-40 around most everything in the
assembly?

Sometimes just moving the lever is all that is needed. other times the assembly has to be disassembled to drive out the brake pins and sanding everything to free them up to work properly. And need to be careful about spraying penetrating oil in that oil due to the brake pads and brake disc.
