I've got a Gravely HD ZT 60" that throws leaves rather than cut 'em. So I purchased a mulching kit. Works great but it's a real pain for this old(er) guy to switch it out in the fall & spring. So I'm wondering about running it full time. Other than possibly cutting slower, and cleaning out the deck more often, are there any draw-backs to doing this. Also, as a follow-up question, I also have the gator mulching blades along with the stock mulching blades that came with the kit. Kinda seems like the Gators are a better mulcher. Any reason I can't run the Gators with the kit?

I’ve run the mulching setup year round for the last 30 years and have never had a problem. I like the way it the yard looks after each cutting. Yes there iss a problem if you must cut when the grass is wet or has gotten too long, it clears up the next time I cut. You will have to clean the underside of the deck
and sharpen the blades a bit more often to keep it looking good. I agree the Gator blades do a better job than most others,

I too have been running nothing but Oregon mulching blades year-round.

I'll match the look of my lawn up against any supposed professional job any time.
