Primer bulb question

Basically some primer systems have internal inlet ports and others don't. And note some these primer also an outlet check valve that may require replacing with the primer bulb is off.

The no hole primers used on Briggs engine are on the carb mounted on the top of the fuel tank, and when pushed inject raw fuel into the engine intake. The primer bulbs with the center hole are used to push air into the carb bowl which in turn forced fuel up the emulsion tube into the carb intake. That hole also acts as atmospheric vent for the carb bowl. Without an atmospheric vent the carb will act as a fuel siphon bypassing the float and float valve.
