This is likely to be a touchy subject, but here goes:
Where I live, some MORON planted fast-growing, long needle pines...in a trailer court...five of 'em...about 20 years ago...ON THE LOT ON WHICH I NOW LIVE. I'm sure, at the time, it fit the schedule: "I'm gonna be in the retirement home (or dead) by the time these things are a problem, so f--k it, I want trees in my yard." It's people like these that make me wanna side with the environmentalists.
Shallow, short-sighted, selfish, impatient people who aren't responsible in any way as to where they put stuff in the ground. They probably knew these fast-growing pines are weak-wood. They fall apart at the slightest weight (or wind). But, because they grow like a weed, they can have nice 'landscaping', without any thought to the future. Kinda like people who blow off mountaintops to get at the coal. No foresight whatsoever. Just 'what do I want this second?' kinda thing.
Ever so true, the last resident had every right to plant whatever they wanted to. I also have the right to spend untold amounts to rectify the situation they left me with. "You could have gone somewhere else" is a copout. This dummy was irresponsible by planting these trees so close to a house. I see this all the time. "Screw whoever has to deal with this.......I want prettiness NOW".
Before you think you're gonna come at me with that Joe Cool "that's the price of ownership" garbage (or something simmilar), DON'T. I didn't have a whole lotta choice in living here. It was here, or an appartment. You can come at me with whatever, but I'll getcha.........if you wanna play.
Just think about what you're planting before you break ground for your 'pet trees'.
