Out of patience,

Red, I’m out of patience too. Why is it so hard for you to supply us with the engine numbers? In post #5 I explained to you what we need from you, but that simple request must be outside your knowledge capabilities. I’m getting out of this thread, because my head hurts banging it again your rock for a brain. You are in need of jet sizes, and we are in need of someone who can read and write simple numbers. I’m old and not to bright, but still at least a little smarter than you. Good Luck, although you need more than luck.
sorry I didn't see the request for engine numbers give me a day.........I apologize.

BULLCRAP, that means you didn’t take the time to read posts 5,6&8, or you don’t understand simple English. Who are you trying to kid? If your eyes are that bad, how can you even see pin drill sizes? If you would find jet sizes, how are you going to use them? Admit it, you’re in way over your head and now you want us to believe you know what you’re doing. I’m not that stupid.

Have you considered that the carburetor may not be the actual fault? Most fuel problems and running issues start with the fuel tank and lines get dirt and debris in them.

This stuff takes years to build up and gradually starving the engine for fuel.

I've replaced a lot of carburetors over the years just to back track and thoroughly clean the fuel system starting at the fuel tank.

Have you looked on the valve cover for the engine ID info?
If you do not see it on top of the vavle cover look at the bottom of the cover, someone put it back on up side down.

As prev stated the carbs a jetted per the engine info that we need.

Also most times when you get a carb from Scamazon if it does not run correctly just return it COMPLETELY free and buy another from a different vendor.
Do you still have your OEM carb? It's best to try to repair it AT FIRST.
Why: because you are buying china clone junk carb's from Scamazon and sometimes you might have to buy several to find a good one, especially when you are not sizing/buying per your engine model, type, code info.

listen, I want to thank all of you for the replys. I will get the number today I am up ay 4am most days have to wait for the sun a little bit this morn. Until I get out there, a little history, this mower was a gift for a rewire on a neighbors garage, he mislead me big time swore he had just cut his lots with it. Ummm no it was a Hurricane Ian flood mower, how to tell? Bottom of hood with water residue, flywheel rusted badly oxidized coil feet so bad I had to literally sand paper flywheel use an older set of feeler gauges just to clean coil gap, got her running. Ran ok except for, both spindles so bad your teeth would run away when blades engaged oh the blades? hahahahahah ok sure, well daughter my convinced me to "Why not fix it for back up dad?" ( i am not supposed to be on a tractor of any size anymore by dr orders due to declining health) Soo my dear readers it gets better, I mean since it was running and it was flooded and the seat was broken and 4 tires flat why not, Tires?? well it took a few tries but got them to hold air, then new spindles new blades, oil change of course, check PCV, check Vapor tube from gas tank, fresh fuel, fresh filters air and gas, it was perfect for hauling my cutesy little harbor freight, little red trailer I got, I mean we are talking, "Captain Kangaroo" stuff right here, I thought hmmm, kid went back to college, wifes off at work, I do have a wild overgrown lot with high grass I wonder.........well this pony didn't let me down UNTILL, ( got that until off a YT video, cool huh?) UNTILL- I got stuck, Now my dear Small engine, engineers, is where it becomes 1 against the mighty engineers of a Lawn Tractor Co. who should have all their pencils removed, On the 7 speed tranny it utilizes a shifter that travels between F-N-R, which in turn by a cable goes to a round 1/4" rod, ohhhh about 7" long connected to the transmission shift arm, and did you know ( I found out by having to Push home that 42, after getting it out of high grass) if that rod is even looking bent, if it is out of Flat with a machine shops granite inspection table, that damn mower will not shift??? Now I know this may sound "Been there done that" ok that's you, me? living somewhat rural, we don't call magic "Mr, Fit it all when our screen door gets stuck" feel me ?? I wait, use cuss words not invented yet, get the time, pull the shift rod out, anvil time and a square head body hammer, (tin hammer,we call it) and wa la I am smokin" UNTILL another HA another set back. my little trailer from HF just sitting, BUT I did knock the living bahjesus out of that tall grass so my lawnman can get 1/2 of that lot with our lots cut when he comes. He was so happy to see it finally done, after couple months of in house resting went to use the TB that is when it all started, coughing, the missing, the stalling barely hardly any low idle, I remembered my donor said he did carb replacement, so OEM is gone, but in looking the air screw was siliconed shut, I kid you not, umm ok, I order one up from amzcrap, like the story goes hahahahahahaha you just fell into Alice's Wonderland and here we are. I will get and post the Engine number today, I hope I got a laugh from most of you reading this, as it is a totally true story, I have been told no more equipment use due to my declining health, but damn "sir" my mind says different, and until I really can't,my upbringing says something else. anyway have a great day and thanks again!!! Here is where I am. 2015 TB 42 rider with 15.5 hp briggs low emissions engine, catch the low emissions part, I have tried three count em three, different carbs off amaz and flea bay, it has the electric shut off and not one will keep the engine running for a constant operation, I have tried to look up jetting and only get part numbers, that don't really help. I then went to a sears pts catalog found that the Nikki carb is specific to this model and just ordered another one yesterday. I am at my wits end, I found the coil s/o wire grounding out fixed that then adjusted the valve lash thinking burnt walves or bad seats, got it to run 3/4 throttle then is started dieing out then stalled, started and wouldn't barely run. new plug, will install new coil with next new carb, is this model so tempermental on jetting??? the generic carbs state 15 to 17 hp when listed, yet all common sense tells me that no, need specific jetting for a low emission 15.5 hp engine, am I thinking correctly or do I roll it out to the road for scrap??? This tractor was a gift with numerous issues, it is a flood survivor, I have pulled flywheel to check woodruff key, it wouldn't hold a constant RPM. This last carb as gov. kept moving back and forth, so I just accepted it and ran it, now??? yesterday, it started again with the popping, blk smoke, stalling and barley running, way over rich, wouldn't clear up for nothing sooo I ordered another carb just for gigggles. Any opinions?? I know it is an older mower, to be honest these are not that complicated but this type of carb to me is, especially the warning "Must be specific to this engine" so help!!
Being out of patience works both ways. After scanning through this thread, I am done.

I kinda hate to tell you this but you have a single speed forward/reverse transaxle with a CVT pulley system. However it does sound the mower has been simply abuse during its life. The speed control only adjusts the tension on the CVT pulley which then changes the pulley two diameters.

BTW any mower that is abused will give a lot more problems period. These are designed to cut lawns, not to bush hog.

Plus a 42" cut with 15.5 hp simply barely enough hp to slightly overgrown grass. Take my 42" Yard Machines [13AN775S000] same basic mower as the TB for an example. It came with 16.5 hp which was way under powered for cutting overgrown grass. I mean 4" overgrown. It would complain to no ends to where I had to cut half the deck width in the lower speed ranges. With a couple upgrades it now cuts 12+ overgrown grass at near full speed. It took installing a 21 hp engine which caused the deck belt to burn up when under heavy loads. That required changing the 1/2" belt to a 5/8" belt. Now the only problem before I parked 3 yrs ago was having give the deck time to clear out the cuttings. I have now started restoring it as I need it until I get my JD 650 rebuilt as a near bush hog.

The only real problem is finding a replacement seat which most likely require me finding a seat mounting bracket that will work.

Now as the spindles most times they just need new 6204-2RS bearings, unless, either the stars are damaged or the shafts are bent which is pretty hard to do. I know bend blades every so often due tree roots. Star damage is usually caused by someone not putting the blades on correctly.

What is frustrating is having to go behind a DIYer and having to undo all their hacks just to get to the real problem.

Red, I was following along fine up until the "Captain Kangaroo" part, then you lost me, can you repeat that or just give us the model #
