I fix and trade riding mowers and garden tractors. I also play with them a bit. Right now I am converting a 1942 Bolens Power Ho into an Einascher or Single axle tractor like they use in Europe for everything from plowing to transportation to church. All the components are from trades of many types and makes of mowers and other devices. I even have some dishwasher parts incorporated into it.
I have a few tractors but my favorites are a 1959 Simplicity Wonderboy in excellent condition and a 1975 Wheelhorse B-80 that I am currently rebuilding.

Welcome to LMF putterman! Sounds like some interesting projects. My neighbor up the road has an old Wheel Horse with a Kohler 10 hp cast iron side shaft on it. Looks rough but runs good and is dependable. He's also got an old Ford LGT series with a 14 HP Kohler cast iron side shaft that has this low level clanging in it. Doesn't sound like a rod knocking~~ Any ideas? DaveTN

I have a lot of memories of the Bolens seeing my father was a Bolens dealer back in the 40s and 50s.

About the only thing moving down there is the rod and crank. If it is a clang and not a knock it may be the oil splasher unless it has a pump, then it could be the pump. Just a reminder though, sounds are often somewhere other than where they seem. I would get a stethescope and do some checking.
