Noise reduction device for grass trimmers?

Friends, is there a device that can reduce noise from the grass trimmers? This handheld machine has a high pitch sound. Many neighbors feel that the noise punctures their ears

Here in Atlanta, strippers work in loud, smoke-filled nightclubs -- I can't imagine how anyone could hope to keep them quiet.

My apologies. I didn't mean strippers at all :ashamed: I meant grass trimmers. What was I thinking when I said strippers? Maybe I didn't look at the dictionary very closely.

To be sure, I meant this . . .

P.S. I have edited the first post to avoid confusion and before someone would post a different picture here.

check with the manufacturer to see if they have a "quiet muffler" avaliable for it.

Does it produce so much noise to warrant noise manufacturer? If your neighbors have not yet complained, maybe you should still hang in there. A mower is not supposed to be quiet after all.

Buy a quiet whipper Snipper like a Kawasaki KBL 27C...........nice quiet 2 stroke.
Cheap and nasty Whipper Snippers are generally very noisy...........so thats the story.

I don't do any trimming. Either my son or my son in law do all the trimming. One thing I have noticed is that my son who has not used a trimmer that much revs it up quite a bit to trim. My son in law barely brings it off of an idle and trims just as fast but with a lot less noise. Mind you he has been doing it for years.:biggrin: Dusty

be cautious about running the trimmer at half throttle because two strokes are only fuel tuned properly at idle and full throttle and may cause a lean condition at mid throttle leading to catastrophic engine failure.

I can't bring myself to get one of those trimmer things because of all the noise. I live out in the country because I like peace and quiet. If they invented a quiet one, I would reconsider.

Didn't know that, Thanks for the headsup. Dusty

Good point sir, hehe. Maybe I am the one complaining. It's my neighbor that does the grass trimming. Lawns here are not flat so we use trimmer, especially in corners. I like quiet. But yes, other neighbors are OK with it. But also maybe the quality of engine is not good. Neighbor is a friend. We talk.

One of the manufacturers of gas concrete cutoff saws was having problems with engine failure at a certain. contractor. Come to find out they where running them at half throttle cutting plastic pvc pipe. the saw runs lean at half throttle (carbs are not set up with a intermediate fuel flow) and the slower operating speed lead to overheating.

That's not good, huh? Why they run in half-throttle? Why not full? Just wondering. I don't know much about cutoff saws. But they are also handheld like the grass trimmers, right?

The implication is that the people operating the saws didn't know what they were doing.

I can think of another reason not to go under load at less than full throttle [applicable to chainsaws]: the saw will be more likely to grab or kick back if the chain is spinning slowly -- always bring a chainsaw engine to full speed before beginning to cut.

Wow that is SO true... I have seen the results of folks that have had bad experiences with kick back... very nasty... KennyV

My echo is so much quieter than my old home light i also had a "weed eater" brand also very noisy very annoying to use will give you a headache after a few minutes. My echo is so much more powerful holds better string and is extremly more quiet at least in higher decibles it can still get pretty loud but still.
