no spark issue, inteck 12.5hp won't start

after adjusting valves and mowing 3 weeks ago,now no spark issue. she won't start. I double checked the valve adjustment an is fine.

checked w/ the el cheapo spark tester fits in-between spark plug wire an spark plug. didn't see an lighting but then it's mid day w/ direct sunlight.

I pulled the spark plug an as usale it's wet w/ fuel. swapped in brand new spark plug still no start.

I may have a spare coil from orginal engine how do I test this coil? thanks for advisingsnapper4.jpg

Today’s coils cannot be tested without an expensive piece of equipment. If you are getting no spart through your inline tester, remove the shroud and then remove the kill wire from the coil. If you still have no spark, the experienced tech on this site will tell you to replace the coil.

Is this the Kill wire? Is it part of the seat kill switch?like if the seat kill switch fails again,( I've replaced like 7years ago) this is bypassing the the seat kill switch an engine will run when I'm not sitting on seat? thanks rivets1 coil.jpg

With that wire disconnected you cannot shutoff the engine, without grounding that terminal or choking the engine. On some engines the fuel solenoid on the carb will starve the engine of fuel and kill it but may take a few seconds in some cases.

The kill wire I’m referring to is the wire attached to the coil. I made NO mention of the seat kill switch, which until you test the coil kill makes no sense in talking about.

pull the kill wire off and check for spark if no spark you might take the coil off and clean the mounting areas and recheck for spark. if still have no spark replace the ign module.

Spark with the kill wire disconnected proves the coil is fine, and it is not failing. So the issue is someplace between where it connects to the coil and the wiring in the mower. Check to make sure the kill wire hasn't rubbed through some place on the engine metal. If that is good then the problem is in the mower wiring some place. Key switch, seat switch, pto switch, brake switch. And the wiring harness associated with those components could all be possible causes.
