Engine new motor

i have a older snapper 36'' walk behind the motor is blown what other motors can i use the motor that came with it is a kawasaki the shaft size is 1x3-5/31'' tapped 7/16 1/4'' key way the model number is w36120k i find briggs i/c motors all the time for cheap but im not sure if they will work im a welder/fab so i can make any motor fit but im not sure if the shaft will work or what pully i would need

depending on if it is a horizontal or vertical shaft Briggs and Stratton has 2 different engines that may work. One is the 1450 series(horizontal with a 1 x 3-1/8 shaft), the vertical shaft style you can find anywhere from a 10.5 hp up to a 27 hp with a 1 x 3-5/32" shaft. hope this might help you out.
