new guy with LT2000 and a problem

hey all. i have a craftsman lt2000 with a 17hp kohler engine. it has a little trouble starting, but once it starts, it runs great - at half throttle. it will run at half throttle or below, but the moment i go above half throttle, it cuts out and dies. any ideas?

Clogged high speed main jet or the fuel solenoid isn't working.

after doing some reading, i have a question. what is considered "full throttle"? is it when the lever is resting in the notch?

Yes when it's in the notch.

well then. please excuse my ignorance. i just bought this mower and got it running. this is my first go around.

If you look closely at the engine controls you will see the choke lever start to move just above the "notch".
