I have a 2013 Craftsman LT2000,, model 247.288853. I just finished replacing both the long and the short drive belts. Took me a couple of hours, because I didn’t take pictures and had a hard time reassembling the tension mechanism with the two pulleys. Once done, I took it for a test drive. The accelerator pedal is stiff, and as soon as I put it in forward it started moving on its own. Pressing the brake wouldn’t stop it either. Is there any adjustment that I can make to fix this? Only thing I see is some threads on the end of the rod connecting the accelerator pedal to the tensioner. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

go use it for a week or two first to let everything settle in.

on the push to go it adjusts the pulley size which effects the tension on the belt

as the belt wears it loses tension and the mower loses speed

just like new shoes sometimes belts need a little break in time as well.

i think you are fine but if its still doing it after a couple of weeks of cutting, then check back in with us because you might have a problem

Will do. Lawn really needs cut. Thanks. I’ll update after a week or so.
