Need starter advice

This Kohler 32-098-08 starter is on an XT1 with a Kohler KT725 engine. I'm assuming that the starter shaft should not have the lateral movement that this video is showing, and the bearings are worn?
The starter still works but has occasional hesitation. I have already load tested the battery and adjusted the valves which were out of spec. Can I continue to use the current starter until it completely dies or does that play in the shaft risk damage to the flywheel, so I should replace it now?

I found a great youtube video that explains the design problems with the original 32-098-08 starter (8 teeth) and the version 2 (10 teeth) and version 3 ( 32-098-10s, 9 teeth and thicker shaft) upgrades. So I know to get a 32-098-10s. I found this one for $145 which seems to be a good price for OEM? https://www.generatormagic.com/products/genuine-kohler-32-098-10-s-electric-starter-for-twin-sv710-sv715-sv720-sv730-sv735-sv740-sv810-sv820-sv830-sv840.html

The shaft wear can get to a point were the starter teeth will jam agaist the starter and potentially break either the starter shaft or the teeth on the ring gear.
