Hi .. love this place! I'll have this old mower like new pretty soon.

I have an older Murray 309029x92 and the shifting between gears is really hard and stiff. Basically I have one forward and one reverse seppd... not the 5 forward. The lever moves all the way - stiffly - but all the way back is reverse and all the way front is forward. that's it. Looking for some advice since it is currently down while I do the blade shaft bearing.

Thanks!

Have seen the shifter shaft going into the tranny case get rusted up and is either impossible or difficult to more. soaking down with penatrating oil and working it seems to loosen them up.

Sorry for the delay in posting. I did what you recommended, and readjusted the linkage and it worked. Not perfectly - the shifting was a little rough, and I only had maybe 3 forward gears plus neutral and reverse. Not too bad. -=BUT=- after sitting for two weeks I go to cut the grass today and I have only forward gearrs... no Neutral and no reverse. WTH??!!?? I adjusted out the rod end that connects to the transaxle 15 turns before I got reverse.

So What is up with that? Whats going wrong here? Any help would be appreciated!

TIA
Mike
