Yes, briggs has brought up a good point about the cables. I didn't think of that till briggs post that, I should have thought of that before, Thanks briggs. Also get the muffler. Are you getting the whole tractor or just the engine?

If that engine is anything like The 12 hp I/C single cylinder in my mower, it'll be dependable. The one in my 1988 is still running very good. Regular maintenance is all that mine has had; change Oil, Plug, Air Filter, Fuel Filter, and adjust the carb fuel mixture about every 5 to 10 year's, + I add Stabil in the Gas Can, each time it get's filled.

It's still early though, @ 26 year's. We'll see how it is doing in another 10 year's.. :smile:

I've have good luck with every Briggs&Stratton engines, twin or single that I've had. Good maintenance is key to long engine life for sure.

Was trying to find a 600-699 model mtd with the 20 horse opp twin Briggs to compare parts diagrams to.

Why would I need the pulley from the Murray? Wouldn't my current pulley work?

I was thinking that way you can put both side by side to make sure the crankshafts of both engines are the same size, so all the belts will line up correct. If you can make sure they are the same (crankshaft size and length & pulley size). Its not important to have the pulley, just be sure its the same as the one you have.
