Good morning lawn mower afficianados!
One mowing habit that rubs me the wrong way; directing all the clippings onto public alleys, lanes, roads, streets, etc.
Several reasons I gnash my teeth when I see someone doing such:
1) When it rains, clippings help get storm drains clogged
2) " " " , " get slick and slippery, and do cause unintended consequences, such as skidding, dumping bike riders, accidents, etc.
3) Clippings end up becoming mulch for growing gnarly weeds in the cracks between pavement and curb edge
4) Looks really tacky
5) Lastly, a flagrant violation of township zoning ordinances

I understand your fustration, but go out into the country sometime then they are mowing side ditches with the rotary cutters and half the road will be covered with grass clippings, shredded aluminum cans, trash and broken glass bottles.

For me, the worst offense is running your mower with the discharge chute held open, and directing the discharge toward the road. Usually done by the commercial guys, and those commercial mowers are capable of launching stuff at dangerous speeds.

Where I live, there are no laws concerning discharge of grass clippings.

That's the way I like it. It only takes a couple of vehicles or 1 semi to eliminate almost all the grass on the roads.
Personally, I think if a biker loses control because of grass clippings, they probably shouldn't be on a bike.

Watching my neighbors mow with a zero turn, and really having no idea how to mow is what makes me laugh and cringe at the same time. Mowing the same direction week after week, mowing too low, ringing trees, making weird patterns because they used the house as part of the pattern, not making 3 point turns, etc. Let’s face it, most people don’t mow correctly with a zero turn.

I ride a Harley trike but cans and glass in the road are not good for any tires. Grass clippings are usually harmless for me. The guys on 2-wheels have to slow way down.

It is sad that people will not take a few minutes to pick up trash before they mow, especially along a road front.

In most areas, a county sheriff will write an offender up, but lately too many idiots are quick to grab a gun instead of being responsible for their actions.

how about putting the blame on the real party responsible for the trash, the slob who threw it out their window..... the grass will blow away in mere minutes....
