mower smoking

I have a john deere riding mower that has just started smoking when i start it up and gives off a burning smell. Is this something that needs to be addressed right away? Or can I use it a few more times before I call the shop to come fix it? thanks
 
I have a JD LA-135 with a 2 cyl. Briggs that sometimes on start up smokes enough blue smoke to choke a camel but not often enough to worry about it. It has about 75 hours and has done it since nearly new.
I just figure it's some of that newer better anti pollution technology of today we didn't have 50 years ago. :laughing:

I dont know. My husband who did all this stuff died last year and I am clueless about this stuff Which is why I am asking in the first place. I am certainly not going to do any work on it myself
