mower hard to turn over after 6 months

I have a
Blackstock Wheeled Brush Cutter 173 V 137cc WGT 56-173. I used to be able to turn this over with just two fingers as it was so easy. After 6 or 8 months in the shed it is now heavy to turn over and when running only seems to be at half speed which is useless for a brush cutter. Anybody got any ideas. Gratefully received

If it has a blade, it is a "brush cutter", if it has string it is a wheeled weed eater in my opinion. A 137cc engine does not have the power to cut very big stuff.

What engine is on this machine? Is it a Briggs and Stratton with the black plastic carburetor?

From your description it sounds like the fuel system needs to be cleaned. The carburetor has had expired fuel sitting in it and has begun to break down and has sticky gum formation in the carburetor. All gasoline turns to a varnish if left sitting in a small quantity for an extended period of time, especially Ethanol blend pump gas (petrol)

Check the valves or most likely carb needle flooding the cylinder. Pull the oil dip stick and smell for gasoline. If you smell gas, fix the carb first then dump the oil a few times.

Do NOT try and run it with gasoline diluted oil. It will trash the engine.

Or you have tall grass chaff binding up the string head that needs cleaned out. Look for this first. String, wire or any debris holding the head. I'm not for sure if that has a clutch on the head or not.

Here’s a stab in the dark. Check to see if the flywheel brake is on even when the bale is pulled back. Or, does the bale not pull all the way back? Could your cable be corroded inside the housing, preventing full travel of the cable and leaving the brake dragging on the fly wheel?

I looked this BlackStone wheeled trimmer up. It is a wheeled trimmer. Worthless as txxs on a boat hog if you ask me.
Sounds like it is one of the following:

A). Hydro locked
B). The engine brake is still contacting the flywheel
C). Belt is somehow causing resistance
D). A piece of crap

Sounds like something causing friction eg string around the blade shaft, something within the engine cooling cowling rubbing against the fly wheel.
:devilish:
The blade is connected to the engine by a belt and does not connect without the lever being pulled so without the blade being engaged it is still hard to turn over
