I had my mower blade sharpened and my cut is still not clean.
Someone told me it is because the grass stems are thick and this will clear up.

Is this true? I have attached photos.

If not the blade, what else could it be?

Are you running the engine at full throttle?

Causes for your condition. 1. As Cars said engine speed not at full throttle. 2. Dull blade. 3. Underside of deck not clean. 4. Deck belt tension not tight. 5. Deck brake not releasing. 6. Cutting off too much grass at one time, especially when mulching. 7. Blades mounted upside Dow, don't laugh I've seen it many times. Could be any one or multiples of these. You'll need to check each one.

The ends of the grass cut with a rotary will never be a clean cut.
That is what drum mowers are for.
However you should get a better cut that you are showing.
Silly thing, is the blade on the right way round ? flute shouldpoint up.
Is the blade free to turn ? Remove the belt and try spinning them by hand.
Are you mowing too fast ?
Is the grass too long
Are you trying to cut more than 1/2 the length of the grass ?

All things considered, I would strongly suggest checking the blade orientation to ensure that it is NOT installed upside down!!!!!!!
In my experience, With a sharp blade, even taller grass or slower speeds should cut sharply, with blades of grass showing a "straight cut" when examined.

Please let us know how you resolve this situation.
Thanks.
