motor getting hot

After mower about 15 minutes, the engine gets hot and starts to miss. The air vents are clear and also the exhaust is. What could be causing this?
 
How many hours on the engine ? Have you ever removed the blower housing to see if the cylinder fins are clean ?
 
Slip an inline spark tester on the engine and when it starts to miss check the tester.
If it is blinking in time with the miss the coil could be on the way out,
Double check by removing the kill wire.
Problem goes away = short in the wiring
Problem stays time to visit the parts shop.
