I realize this is not an application discussed in a lawnmower forum, but I need some parts locator assistance:

The B&S engine powers an auger, its model number is 126M02-0122-F1. There should be a spring between the throttle control link/lever and the butterfly shaft that balances with the long spring connected to the governor linkage(that spring is there). I looked on the B&S site and I think the missing spring is their item 209...but there is no reference to a part number in the lookup.

There are several throttle control brackets that look like they have such a spring.

The only spring for your throttle is the 209B. Your model-type-trim doesn't use a secondary spring like some other versions of engine do. Some have 2 governor springs and others only have in your case the one.

It is called governed idle spring and as IL said according the IPL that engine does not use it.

BTW Briggs price file here lists 36 different governed idle springs. Also most don't connect directly the throttle butterfly shaft but to the governor linkage which is connected to the throttle butterfly shaft. Also depending on the carb setup you might be referring the choke return spring [#217] [690354].

This is one of those "urge to kill" deals....as it turns out the guy told me he thought it had another spring(besides the governor spring". I looked at it, set the idle speed with the throttle cable housing clamp...and sent him on to build fence.

Thanks guys for pitching in to help,

bartles

Hi bartles,

Sounds like he was familiar with only one example, and he does not work on enough of these engines to know there are differences.

It also doesn't help when they show illustrations with diagram numbers that are not used.
