Hi, if I hold a briggs carburetor upside down, and apply 5lbs of pressue to fuel inlet, should needle and seat hold that pressure with just the weight of the float
If doing a wet test I would use what the needle and seat are intended to stop as Gasoline is thinner than PB Blaster. And anything other than the intended fuel will give a false positive. Once I know the needle/seat is leaking then I use soapy water to see if it is at the needle/seat point or the seat/carburetor base that is leaking. If leaking at the seat/carburetor point then just cleaning the seat and installing a new needle valvel is pointless. Some seats are replaceable and others are not.
Don't mean to sound naive, but how do you determine whether its the needle and seat leaking or seat to carb leaking being that they are in such close proximity and down in a hole??
