Help. I've got a 1998 Lawnboy Gold series with a 6.5 Dura Force engine. The recoil assembly is wore out and of course the part is no longer available. I drilled the 4 rivets out of the top shroud assembly and got down to the coil spring. The inner slot for the spring is wore out and the spring keeps coming out leaving the pull cord completely out with no recoil. Mower Model number 10547. Part number 95-1880 or 95-1868 (confusing part diagrams). Tried ebay and Amazon for used or similar recoil assembly but so confusing. Anybody have any thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try Kijjii or Facebook marketplace for junk or used mowers. That's where I have gotten most of my spares from.

Thanks for the info. I hate to junk it. Engine has good compression and is in good shape for its age.

I have the same trouble. 2000 Gold Pro, bad recoil starter. Found a Toro the same. have to drill the rivets. DO you know or have you seen a vid on how to proceed. If no, then my neighbor, who is a LB nut says it's simple. Drill the rivets, use self sealing screws or lock nuts and washers to replace.
