krohler engine starts and dies

Engine starts runs a few seconds then dies. It is a Kohler 7000 series 725 horse. A KT740 SERIAL# 4518305863. I changed the gas filter still starts and dies.

Remove oil dipstick & see if it smells like gas & appears to be overfull on dipstick.
Remove spark plugs & check condition & gap. Fresh gas, air filter, spark & compression are needed for engine to run. Check all electrical connections for being tight, secure, & free from rust & corrosion, behind dash also.
