I have never had a problem with Fram....
Fram filters used to be fine but for a number of years have been garbage. I will never let one near any engine of mine.

I get Kohler oil filters from Amazon, bought one last week (12 050 01-S for my 22 HP engine $8.90).

I use the Kohler filter, change it every other oil change. Change oil at end of season, usually about 50 hours or so. write on filter date and hours so I know whether it's due or not.

Most filters are made by Champ in Albion IL USA to oem specs there are big differences in some filters If you have a kubots use a kubotat filter some name brands filters filter to much My best advice if you don't want any trouble with. Filters use OEM filter are cheap compared to engines

You can't go wrong with OEM filters but aftermarket is fine as long as you use the proper filter from the likes of Stens or Rotary or other reputable supplier you can't go wrong either. If the OEM filter has an anti drainback valve make sure the aftermarket filter has one too.
