Kohler Command 22 HP surges and dies

This engine has 476 hours on it and it still looks and runs like a new one. What is considered 'high mileage' on these engines?
 
I have a courage 22 Model SV715 doing the same thing. Solenoid works fine just put a new fuel pump on it. Have new fuel line from pump to Carb. Carb has been removed and cleaned throughly. Still doing the same thing it was before I started. But only runs for 10-20 seconds. Have also put new spark plugs on it as well.

I am lost for answers.

A carburetor rebuild kit should get you going. Fresh gas, check air filter, take your time cleaning carburetor, after disassembling carburetor clean all orifices thoroughly before reassembly. Make sure you have all information, numbers, from mower manufacturer & engine numbers as many are listed.
