KOBALT MOTOR WILL NOT START

I have a Kobalt KSPM 2040A-03 40 VOLT MOWER. It is just 3 months old. The self propelled works fine. When i try to start the the motor I can hear a click like a relay engaging but the motor does not start. The third green lite flashes indicating overload. I fully charged the battery and let the mower cool off for 24 hours cleaned the underneath still will not start. The blade is easy to turn by hand. Tried to return it to Lowes they said that I had to send it back to Kobalt because It was more than 30 days since I bought it BS. Don't know what to do or try next. Please Help if Possible Thanks Mike

First off, you need to rule out a bad battery, by trying another battery if you can. Based on what you've described you either have a faulty motor control circuit board or a loose/shorted wire someplace. I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but you may just have to warranty this mower.

Yes I am going to contact Kobalt in the morning. What bothers me the most is Lowes not letting me return it. When you look in the manual it says return it to the seller.

Did you show the manual to Lowe's customer service, because it specifically states that Kobalt products that are within the 5 year warranty period are to be returned to the place of purchase for repair or replacement. Kobalt is the Lowe's house brand, so unlike other brands where you return it to the manufacturer after the store return period is over, Lowe's is obligated to handle this for you. Ask them to escalate this with a senior supervisor or the store manager, and I'll bet you get a better response. Anyway, when you call Kobalt, you're just calling Lowe's. Look at the back of the Kobalt manual and you'll see that is says Lowe's Home Centers LLC. So, yes, total BS.

try another Lowes. Sometimes in retail the manager gets a bonus based on store performance and bottom line. I've seen it where one retail store refuses to warranty something because they don't want to eat the loss.

I did not have the manual with me yesterday, but I sure will try it because the store is only 2 miles away.

I just went back to the Lowes store and spoke with the manager. He told me to call Kobalt and get a RA Number and he would take the mower back and exchange it. I was not told that yesterday by the Cluck.

Contacted Kobalt 1st thing this morning got the RA then went to Lowes and got a new mower. Manager at Lowes was a good guy and very helpful. Kobalt guy was easy to deal with all done.
Here is a direct number to Kobalt CS a real live person answered. 888 356 2258
