Kawasaki PA540A engine coil

That engine/drivetrain was specific to John Deere and the information is exclusive to John Deere. The manual would have had resistance tests in analog readings, and for the most part are irrelevant. If the high tension lead and spark plug boot are not damaged, either there is spark or there isn’t. Air gap, I would get the coil as close to the flywheel magnet as possible, .010” or close to that.
 
Most cheap ohms meter are not going to read the primary winding accurately.

Note the control unit is called an ignitor so you will see both terms when looking for parts.
