i have a john deere 165 riding mower. i adjusted the carb due to rough idle now when i engage the blades it holds idle. but when i engage the trans it dies out fast. any ideas?

Does it die when you engage the trans without the blades turned on ?

Like you turned it off or like it just does not have enough power to run both .

no, i can have blades or trans but not both at the same time. and it sputters and then dies. and yes like not enough power for bothDoes it die when you engage the trans without the blades turned on ?

Sounds like the governor is not working or the carb main jet is clogged or the fuel level in the float bowl is too low .
Time to pull that carb off & give it a good clean
