Hey all, new to the world of ZTR as I'm in the process of buying a house that sits on 2.35 acres south of Little Rock, AR. I'd guess maybe 1.75-2 acres of mowable grass as beyond the 2400 sqft ranch house is a 30x40 shop, detached carport w/asphalt and concrete driveway as well as some natural tree'd areas on the back and on one side. The lot is pretty flat with one very gentle slope by the shop. What I've decided so far, I want a serviceable drivetrain (ZT2800 or ZT3100), Kaw or Kol engine, forged 10+ gauge deck and a "smooth" ride as I have back issues. I'm thinking 48" is probably sufficient and as it is will have to modify the gate to the fenced in section as it is only 36", but I'm good with that. So far I like the Gravely ZT HD 48, Ferris 300S, Bad Boy Avenger or Elite. Kind of trying to stay under that $6k mark as even that could be a battle with the wife but one I think I can convince her of, beyond that level is unlikely and quite frankly probably overkill. Are these where I should be looking or am I way off base? I've watched a decent amount of vids on YT but... For the previous 25 yrs of home ownership I've lived in suburbia and just used push mowers for various sized lots, up to .2 acres so this will be a very new experience.
Thoughts on these or other machines I should be looking at would be appreciated. I am open to used but, it must be "gently" used and the seller would have to be ok with me having a mechanic looking at it.
