I have a used z225 that seems to have a deck issues. I can buy a complete deck with new spindles, blades etc, for about $800.00. But not knowing the age and making an estimate of hours on the machine I'm not sure spending the 800 is worth it (this engine has no oil filter) or just go with a new mower (looking at the Gravely ZT or another John Deere). The serial number is m0z225a042787 I am thinking that the lowercase a is the year but cannot find the documentation. Thanks in advance.

What do you really want to know ?
Easiest way to determine the age is the engine serial number YYMMDD

I am looking to find the year it was built which I thought would be part of the serial number. But there is a DOM that says DOM 121207 which I am guessing is December 12, 2007. If correct that makes it 14 years old. My end goal is to determine is it worth putting 800 plus into it. A lot less then a new one but is it throwing good money into something bad.
