JOHN DEERE PTO

Hi, we are new to this site. We are having problems with the PTO on our John Deere 145 automatic. Switch was replaced, will engage the blade for a few seconds then the engine will die and a fuse will blow. Any suggestions on what to check next? Help!

What switch was replaced?

If it was the PTO switch... there are a couple variations to the switches... they look the same but internally they are different...

You have something either wired wrong, or the wrong switch, or a wire is shorting to the frame somewhere (likely near the new switch)... :smile:KennyV

Thanks so much, Kenny. We did check the old part number against the new part (PTO switch) and they were the same. Will check the wiring.
