john deere Problem with cutter engaging

I have a John deere kt160

question; I get started perfectly, but when I push the cutter lever to engage the cutter the engine cuts out.
If I just push the cutter lever a small way it works perfectly until i push it over fully then the engine cuts out.
It was working perfectly two weeks ago and nothing has been touched.
Anyone got any ideas?????:confused2:

Remove the deck drive belt from the engine pulley, start and then engage the deck. If the engine stills dies, then start looking at the seat switch or the wiring associated with it. If the engine keeps running, then look for binding pulleys and blades on the deck.
