Recently I have been working on a xl 279 lawn tractor. It wouldn't start so I checked spark, which I do have. So after that I removed and cleaned out the carb very thoroughly. Then when it didn't start, I removed and replaced all of the gas lines and the fuel filter. I then checked the fuel pump which is working fine. Then when it still didn't start I looked at the little electric shut off on the carburetor which now seems to be working fine (with cleaning). With lots of cranking, it will start for a second, but then die. What should I do? Any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to sell this ASAP. I forgot to mention I flushed and cleaned the fuel tank when I changed the lines.
