John Deere LA175 transmission

I have a John Deere LA175 lawn tractor. The hydrostatic transmission slips. Can it be rebuilt with replacement parts or do I have to buy a new trasnmssion?

Not sure what trans. is in that machine, many Tuff Torq hydros will start failing at 300 hrs or so, all in at 500. Not serviceable in general but many have split the cases, cleaned it all out, put in some 10w50 synthetic oil and gotten good service for a while longer. Lots of good info here:
