john deere l120 repair

My John Deere L120 wont start or do anything when you turn the key but I am able to start it by crossing the silinoid with a screwdriver. Is my problem the silinoid or ignition switch or something else?

I believe that's a 4 pole solenoid. There are two small tabs that has two small wires attached to them. One wire is a ground and the other is the power wire when starting. Check the voltage on this wire while trying to start because if there's not enough voltage the solenoid cannot bridge the voltage to starter side.
Also did it easily turn starter when you shorted solenoid?

The starter cranks fine when I cross the solenoid. Do you think the solenoid is the problem?

If you don't have 12V on the power wire to the solenoid like I explained then no the solenoid is not the problem. If you have no multi meter then you could run a wire direct to battery and touch the tab(power wire not ground) on the solenoid, if starter starts turning then the solenoid is not the problem.
