You have a 1982 317 John Deere with a Kohler KT17QS engine, Hydrostatic transmission , deck sizes 46, 48, or 50 inch. If all it needs is a set of rings you got a good deal for 100 dollars.

Keep the bugs away, I guess it depend on how much it smokes and how much it brothers you. You might try some heaver oil in it and see what happens?

Welcome. Always glad to see someone preserving one of the classic John Deere's. I have an 89 285 myself, and it's simply awesome for it's age. Give it a little love, it will last forever!

The 317 is a great machine and being a 82 model you have the series II motor which has full pressure lubrication. $100 is a flat out steal.
