Hello Everyone.I recently purchased a John Deere 250G string trimmer.I am confident that it was made by Echo, but does anyone know which Echo model was it's equivalent? The price of parts from John Deere is ridiculous,so i'm hoping Echo can beat them.Thanks.

WELCOME TO LMF!
I just wanted to let you know that I tried to find it out, but I was unable to find much info at all online about the trimmer. I couldn't even find a good picture....they were all of service manuals. :confused2: Maybe since I responded to this others will respond also, because they might know where to find this info. For now, I would suggest contacting Echo. They MIGHT be able to tell you at least something or tell you where to go to find out.
Good luck!

Echo tells me that there are three models comparable to the John Deere 250G.The SRM-200AE,SRM-200BE and the SRM-2200.Based on it's apparent early serial number mine looks like the SRM-200AE.It looks like most of the parts for this model have been discontinued by Deere and Echo.I can't even find an air filter for it.Perhaps i can change the air cleaner housing to a newer style. If i find some valid part numbers i will post them.Maybe this will help someone in the future. Thanks everyone.

Your trimmer in the pictures almost looks like my Echo GT-2100. But if Echo didn't list that trimmer than it is not as close to being the same as the ones they said. Here is a picture of mine:

The 250G i aquired has a Walbro WA-81 carb, which is different than what echo shows.I have emailed Deere with hope of finding the year of manufacture for my unit.Perhaps that can narrow it down.

Maybe some day every one will learn to stay away from junk Deere.
If you don't own a farm and need a farm tractor don't pay for the name And ugly green

The John Deere 250G trimmer was actually made by Echo. This post is about a yellow trimmer, not a green farm tractor.Perhaps you should have read the entire post before making your comment.

Lets see it has JD on it you. You say the parts from JD cost to much.
Like with any JD you pay for the name.
Even a oil filter with there name on it cost twice as much as a fram or a wix

Luckily for me the John Deere 250G is a two stroke trimmer. No oil filter is required.Much like Cub Cadet/Toro/etc. are rebadged MTD products,John Deere outsources the manufacture of some of their equipment.Just because their name is on it doesn't mean they manufacture it.
