John Deere - 210 - Electric PTO Belt Replacement Help!

Hello!

I have a John Deere 210, but I cannot find the manual on it. The belt that is on there now is M40223, but there is so much slack that when the PTO switch is engaged, it does not engage the belt. There is a handle on the front bumper, but I cannot turn it any further to pull that spring tighter. It's as far as it can go, because the bar that the spring is attached to cannot go any further forward. Any ideas? Is this even the correct belt?

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have the original belt?
If so, try to size them up and see if they are the same length.
And if you can please post the model numbers.

Please post the model number for the unit, behind left rear wheel. Plus what size deck do you have?

Unfortunately, I do not have the original belt. I have this serial number - m00210x420190.

Csn you post a better pic of the deck number plate?

Deck size will dictate the proper belt needed.

The deck serial number is M00664X539521. The product identification number is M00210X420190 (210 Lawn and Garden Tractor).

Can you simply tell us if you have a 38", 39", 46", or 47" cut deck? Even the 84" belt is 3"+ short than the M40223 (1/2" x 87.1")

there were serial number breaks, and you must also pay close attention to the model notes in the parts books as many times the picture used was for more than one series, there were many running changes through build life

if I read Deere parts right the belts should be-
the primary belt (engine to deck) is Deere #M47766
the secondary belt (blade to blade) is Deere #M82538
