John Deere 14SB wheel question: The diagram and attached parts list for
the rear wheels show a (B) comment to order AM115138 for wheels with
3 gear mounting pilot pins. I ordered two AM115138 wheels which arrived
with the correct part number but no gear mounting pilot pins. The new
wheels allowed adequate mounting of new spur gears but the center part
of the wheel (which contains the bearing) protrudes farther outside the
rim of the wheel (as compared to the old original wheel).

This extra protruding affects the amount of gear tooth contact between
the metal drive gear from the transmission shaft and the spur gear
(the problem is that only about half of the width of the metal drive gear
teeth actually contact the spur gear teeth). I expect this will somewhat
overstress that portion of the plastic spur gear teeth and result in rapid
wear (deformation). BTW, I used new M110801 bolts (they call it screws).

Does anyone here have experience with this particular situation?

Note: The diagram and attached parts list was obtained from
http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.serv
lets.HomePageServlet_Alt
and searched for 14SB, silver, sectional index, mower related parts,
wheels, 14SB

SOLVED MY PROBLEM: If anyone has the same problem, here is how I fixed it. Made and installed
a ~ 1/4 inch shim (in the shape of a large washer) between the wheel and spur gear.
