The deck lift/drop hydraulic control lever on the left side of the dash is locked up. I bought this machine new in 2018 and has worked as it should since then. I parked it overnight after mowing part of the property. Next day, the lever is locked in place. Also, I can't move the deck height knob. I traced the control rod(s) and I can't find a jam. Is there something I inadvertently did to lock it out? I really don't want to take it to the dealer if its a simple repair. Thanks.

Check the PTO switch and operate it a couple of times with just the key on and not running. After that, turn the key off, get on the seat and start the mower and see if the deck height control's function.

Thank you for your reply. I did what you said and the deck still did not respond. Of course, the blades will engage with the engine running, but the deck height lever does not work. At least I'm still able to mow. Is is possible that the PTO switch is integrated with the deck lift ?

Next thing to try is locate your fuse box/panel, then pull one fuse at a time and check it carefully for being blown in the middle or a crack due to age and vibration. This is basic a diagnostic procedure to avoid overlooking anything so simple.

If a fuse is bad, replace it with the same size, Amp number, color fuse. Do not put in a bigger Amp fuse.

I am still trying to locate a diagram to reference. All the ones online are garbage to read so far.

Don't consider swapping any parts out because that just complicates the situation.

Check with your John Deere Dealer and see if the Service Manager can check the JD Service Advisor system they have for known problems with the deck lift system. (There may be a service campaign for this problem)
