JD 170 not starting

JD D170 fuel to carb not happening. Replaced pump, nothing, replaced carb, nothing, blew out gas line both ways, and hoses to carb, still, only runs for a few seconds on starter fluid! Also, blew hoses on carbon canister, fills filter, but not drawn into the carb !

First did you correctly plumb the fuel pump? Then there is the lack of crankcase impulses, missing or clogged fuel pickup tube.

Let's hope it is not the pickup tube as it is a royal pain to get to top of the fuel tank. 3/4 or better of the mower has to come off.

Thanks, there are 2 tubes on top of the tank. I bought 1 on Amazon. but can’t get it off, will break it if I have to, also 2 hoses going to the carbon canister, didn’t take a picture, so could have them reversed, will try switching them today! Watched a video, said the plastic on the manifold could be warped, will take it off , 3 gaskets, 1 steel. Need to get more starting fluid today, and gasket seal, and try again!

Next time take pictures before you mess with it. Label fuel hoses ect.....

So if you remove the fuel line AT the carb inlet, you have no fuel while cranking the engine? Is so your issue is before this test point.

The problem almost certainly lies with the fuel line before the carburetor on your John Deere D170, so there's no need to dismantle the manifold or use sealant. Instead, check three simple things: that fuel flows freely from the tank, that the cap vents properly, and most importantly, that the canister line isn't blocked or improperly connected.

Need to get more starting fluid today,

Hold off on the Ether.

Better products like 2 stroke mix to use. Little pump spray bottle. Use it on ANY mower, trimmer, car engine, boat or blower.

Going with a clog or clogged tank outlet and or dead internal fuel lines.

Pull hose off AT carb and test for solid flow.

Also could be dead hoses feeding the pump. Cracked non sealing worn out filthy hoses. If the impulse hose doesn't hold that pressure pulse, pump won't pump.

This tells us 4 things.

1.She has enough air to run.
2.She has spark AND at the correct TIME.
3.She has enough compression to start.
4.Runs for two seconds with a flammable juice sprayed into the carb. She is lacking fuel. She is thirsty and wants more go-go juice.

You have a fuel delivery problem. Find out where and why.
