I would then consider a class in welding at a local JC near you. The cost at JC are normally minimal.
 
This is not about spending 200$+ to get this muffler to work, it is about learning and making use of this equipment for other things too!
Knowing how to weld is incredibly useful if you do enough of it to use your welder and skills over time. You don’t start out welding and laying beautiful beads immediately, it takes time to learn. My welds are not pretty, but never had a comeback from failure.

Thanks Tiger I did research yesterday and for me I decided on this method:
Stick (Shielded Metal Arc Welding - SMAW)
  • How it works: Uses a consumable electrode (a metal rod) covered in flux. As the rod melts, the flux creates a shielding gas and a protective layer of slag over the weld as it cools.
  • Best For: Structural steel, heavy equipment repair, and outdoor construction.
  • Pros: Highly portable, inexpensive to start, and can easily weld through thick materials, rust, dirt, and paint. No external gas bottle required.
  • Cons: Slower due to needing to frequently replace rods and chip away the hardened slag. It is messy, produces significant spatter, and is very difficult to use on thin metals. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
  • Complete Kit: The kit includes a 1.8m electrode holder cable, a 1.2m ground clamp cable, 20 welding rods, a welding helmet, a slag hammer, and a brush, ready for immediate use.
I listed some of the highlights that are a must like a welding helmet. I am sure a $500.00 welding helmet is better than what I can find in a package but I am thinking all in one including say 1 lb. of carbon steel rods in the kit.

And focusing on this:

That all parts are compatible. I am learning as I go.

MY two cents on JB Weld products. Bought JB weld epoxy "Strongest epoxy made" to repair a plastic tool box cover on my 4200 john deere tractor. Prepped the lid by scrubbing with lacquer thinner to degrease the plastic. Scratched it all up really good with 36 grit sandpaper. Put it on looked good and first time i opened the tool box lid it all came loose from the lid and when I pulled it all off to try something else I found that it was rubbery and not rigid like epoxy is supposed to be. Ended up fiberglassing the lid which is fine now although it looks like frankenstein.
JB WELD IS JUNK IMHO
 
Stick welding thin sheet metal such as the muffler is not going to work as you will get quite burn thru. I recommend a flux core wire welder with correct wire or a MIG type welder.

On my Miller Cricket I do get weld jams due thin places in the wire. When I first got it I had a lot splatter and burn thru but was because the local dealer sold me the wrong flux cored wire. Every since I switched to the current grade of wire I get the welds like they should be. Even then I will have burn thru on heavy rusted metals.

Another is ACE/OX welding but those rods are nearly impossible to get now though there are some 1/16" rods on Amazon.

Yes even their plastic weld epoxy is junk. The best I from in plastic epoxy is the Permatex version but you got make you using in on the right plastic and be quick as it sets up in less than 5 minutes. I do the JD ABS plastic hoods when all the pieces are there.

And local machine shop has barred anyone from using JB Weld in their shop. Just doesn't hold up.
 
You know maybe you are correct but I can tell you I spent some time looking at the prices for the Husqvarna exhaust pipe and muffler believe it or not for the same exact part tractor supply wants about $30 and one vendor on Amazon wants $104 for exact same one. Also the problem with the current exhaust muffler system is one day about 4 years ago the muffler did get so hot that it melted the welds between the exhaust pipe and the muffler there's like four or five spot welds and the whole thing I think turned like red and then the muffler fell into the cage I haven't had temperatures like that since.

Whatever they were, weren't welds. Oxy/acetylene weld temp 3500 C. Electric arc 4000 C. Might have been furnace brazed but wasn't welded. But kinda doubt that as well. Oxy/hydrogen would get you down to 1750 C but don't see that happening either. Here would be melted AL pistons at anything above 660 C.

But damn hard to do on thin section metals. Rethink.

Next time use the hot melt wire staples used in the auto repair biz. Stitch it up with those.
 
So for my machine which is an lt2000 Craftsman it calls for a Husqvarna muffler system so what I did was I bought the JB weld extreme heat paste supposedly it goes up to 1000° f I have no idea what's going to happen I just applied it this morning I'm probably going to wait at least 24 hours but it does apply very easily + hopefully this reduces muffler noise maybe others have had this and it works or it doesn't work I don't know but I'm hoping it will work.

Rated for 1000 F. Come on advertising. Just like AL, any patch matrix will lose half of its strength well before it ever gets to that temp. Take it off and find someone who will TIG weld it back up.
