IS2100z engine stall sputters and eventually stalls when I switch to right tank.

Problem started with bad fuel it seemed. Managed siphon most out, and refill with good gas and everything seemed OK but then I switched to opposite tank to see if it would do OK and it did, so I switched back to right tank and engine would stall after a minute or so, and the problem persists.

I cannot see any way to trace to the pickup inside tank. Outside hoses look pristine and enter side of tank through a fitting that I don't see a way to remove.

Just wondering what my approach to this should be. Is the tube removable somehow so I can inspect the pickup.

I just had a duh moment that I should have pressurized the engine end of the hose to force any possible dirt back through the tube into tank to at least get a temporary clearing of something.

Also, I might try to bypass the switch over valve to see if perhaps it is messed up or something, but it feels normal.

If you have debris, or more likely water, siphoning “most” of the fuel out won’t work. You may have to remove tank, turn it upside down, and blow it out with air gun to get it all out.

Bingo........

If you find trash, water or grass in the tanks, must get rid of it all.

Fuel lines degrade internally so you can't see this. When this happens, same as the tank cap o-ring, you will get rubber bits in the tank bottom. These degrade fuel flow TO the carb.

Smart to replace ALL the fuel lines and flush the tanks out as new.
 
Facing the prospect of servicing the tank,-- first thing I need to know is how to remove the hose that goes through some sort of fitting near the top of the take at the fill area. How do I remove that thing so I can fish the internal hoses out. The fill neck protrudes into the tank an inch or two below the height of the hose entrance fitting so I absolutely cannot see a thing. It would appear that i must just pull it out forcefully, but maybe it is threaded in or something. I have pulled pretty hard to the point i feared something would break. I don't like breaking things that I have no idea of how it could be fixed.

None of the Ferris parts diagrams I can find provide a picture of the parts for the fuel supply hose tank entrance. I can't even find a part number, except for the whole tank
 
Newer machines are not meant to be repaired, only more new ones to be purchased. The investors love this approach.

In the interim, it takes creative thinking to sort out problems like this when they happen.

First would be to remove the tank, next would be to come up with a way to siphon out all the fuel with a remote suction pump of some kind and then flush the tank and siphon it out again. (Do not use any kind vacuum cleaner unless you want a big fire)

For debris trapped in lines, compressed air would be needed so it has enough force to clear any blockage. Also consider that the blockage could be at the fuel switching valve or any right-angle fitting along the way from the tank.
 
Before removing the tank I tried one more thing. I unhooked the fuel line at the engine connection then the filter and put a shop vac on the refueling opening in the tank and pushed all the liquid out. Was a little skittish about electric motor blowing sparks so hooked it all with tape and plugged the vacuum in using a 50'-foot cord knowing there was little chance of a spark from the motor making it down the length of the hose but I also didn't like the idea of making the headlines. I had done a similar thing with a diesel truck 40 years ago, but gasoline does scare me.

Has been fine for a couple months now.
 
Forgot to mention, I went that path after looking at the parts diagrams, and talked to my dealer and it got a bit murky about whether there was a set of parts and a procedure available to replace the stuff at the tank entry and in the tank.

I still wouldn't mind knowing what the heck is the key to getting the hoses and the connecting hardware, (a metal elbow at the tank) off the tank.

I pulled and twisted until visions of buying a new tank assembly popped into my head. Maybe just a wee bit harder and out it came, or all hell broke loose.
 
Can you attach a picture of the tank fitting you are struggling with? Not all parts diagrams will break down each individual part.
 
You may be able to fish out the pickup from the tank, without removing those fittings. There is often a hose from that fitting to the pickup. Look in the tank, and use a pickup tool to fish it out. There's some kind of filter on it you can clean, and there may be a check valve you can also clean.
