Not exactly mower related, but I’m working on a larger home project and figured this knowledgeable group might help.

I’m planning to paint the interior of my house (about 2,000 sq ft) and wondering what a fair cost is for materials plus hiring pros versus DIY.

I know you all deal with equipment costs, labor, and project budgeting for lawns and gear, maybe the same principles apply here.

What have you paid recently or what would you expect for paint, prep, and labor?

Any tips on tools or budgeting would be appreciated.

First of all, you will save quite a lot of money doing it yourself, but if a pro does it it will look a lot better (no offense)
By high quality paint, Behr from Home Depot is great if you get the Marque line, get the pint containers and make samples before you purchase your material.
YouTube has lots of videos with tips on prep and application.
The better the prep the better the final coat, HANDS DOWN.
You must have paictients, do not rush, cover anything in the room with plastic or drop clothes.
If your new color is the same or close to the old one premium paint should cover adequately, if new color is to be very different use primer, have the paint store tint the primer close to the new color.
Paint a 2 foot by 2 foot section to see how final paint covers wait for it to dry, if it does not look good prime it first, primer cost much less than top coat.
Caulk and patch everything before painting.

paint instructions generally say covers appx 300 sq ft per gallon. Measure the running length of all the walls X the height and that will give you the square feet to cover. Divide by 300 and get the number of gallons. Figure 5 gallon buckets will cost less per gallon. Ask your paint supplier how much a 5 gallon bucket is and multiply. Add in brushes, rollers, tarps and plastic, tape etc. That will answer your question. No two homes are alike. Don't forget the trim paint. And your time plus help to move furniture away from the walls etc..

Paint will cost about 35/gal and a gallon covers about 400sqft if you use a good paint

Where is this at? Good paint at $35 a gallon?????
