I have a not running briggs and stratton 450e in which I need a new rocker arm stud I cannot for the life of me find the right part any help. The serial number is missing, I bought this second hand. Thanks in advance ask me any questions you have.

The engine model number maybe etched into the side of the engine block next to the muffler. That number will get you to a parts diagram to see what parts are available.

Clean and wipe the engine block down on the flat sides. There are Lazer etched numbers that will tell you what you have for an engine. Usually Jacks small engine or e-replacement will have what you are looking for.

Why the rocker arm stud? Did it break?

yes i was tightening it and it just sheared off im a rookie at this stuff just bougth the engine unworking second hand from the tip for twenty bucks and i am trying to diagnose and fix

Hi Go Cart Builder,

You're supposed to only tighten bolts 1/4 turn before they break. LOL

Anyone who has worked on this stuff expects things to break from time to time. Better that it broke now than when the engine was running at 3600 RPM.

The newer they are the cheaper they make them.... Minimize materials and maximize profits is the name of the game. The end user is stuck with the results.

I think StarTech provided the part number you need.
