I am not able to identify and or verify if my dealer is selling me the correct hydraulic/transmission oil filter for my new IS300Z . The manual calls for p/n: 5021357. I have done extensive on-line research and still not sure! The filter that came with the mower is all white ? no P/N, no marking (not customer friendly). The dealer has sold me both an all white filter (p/n: 5021357X1) and a Stens (p/n: 120-818). I cannot determine if the OEM filter that I should be using is a 10 Micron filter (or higher?) or if any by-pass valve is recommended and if so the valve setting. I believe the dealer is selling the wrong filter, and should be selling me a Stens 120-710. Has any one looked into this.

Fram P1654A filter is what I use on my IS3000Z,available at most auto part stores. It is a direct replacement for the original Ferris-Oil Filter-5021357.

Is that for the Hydraulic oil filter or the engine oil filter?

Stens 120-818
10 micron
8-11 psi bypass valve
Colour is black but that will not affect the filters performance.

The filter I cannot identify is the white "OEM" hydraulic filter.
After removing this white OEM filter and looking inside it's not what I would have expected.
I will go to the dealer and ask for the Stens 120-818 filter to compare them inside and out.
Thanks for the information!

According to the rep ( and they would not tell porkies would they? ) the filter is the same filter from the same factory made to the same specs.

OK once again going back to the Stens web site (https://www.stens.com/120-818-transmission-filter
), it does not indicate that the Stens 120-818 Transmission Filter is an OEM replacement filter,
nor fits any Ferris model. Still am not sure what to use. Will need to look inside and compare the two.

did you try typing the Ferris part number into the stens web site ?
It pops up part no 120-710.
Down here it brings up both 710 & 818 but 710 ws not available last year down here.
Going to another aftemarket site it only lists one filter
120-710 is identical to the 120-818 in all respects except the micron size of the filter material.
The 710 is 25 micron the 818 is 10 micron
So the 710 will flow more oil at a lower presure.
Both have the same pressure relief bypass specs.

Looks like you got the wrong filter.
However I am not the dealer so I do not know if the finner filter will work properly in your transmission.
If it flows sufficient oil volume without going by-pass then he was doing you a favour by suppling a better filter.
