Hello very often I will turn key and get the load click sound as if dead battery or dead spot in starter
maybe the 2nd or 3rd try mower will start perfectly
with in past year new starter was installed & battery is good
my question is could the key switch have something to do with this

Many possibilities to include but not limited to key switch, all wiring and connections in starting circuit, safety switches, battery, starter, solenoid, valve adjustment, etc. Since you get a click and eventual start, I'd start with the solenoid. If it's the solenoid, I would go to a parts store and get an older Ford solenoid. The kind that mounted on the fender well. Stronger and cheaper.
